World Congress on Internet Security 2011

February 26, 2011 - 12:34

I attended the IEEE World Congress on Internet Security in London this week which is "an international forum dedicated to the advancement of the theory and practical implementation of security on the Internet and Computer Networks." The conference was held near Heathrow Airport, London. The conference was overall very interesting with some interesting people & good talks relating to my area of research, as well as other security topics. Disappointingly there was a low attendance and the conference could have been much better if more people had attended.

I attended the IEEE World Congress on Internet Security in London this week which is "an international forum dedicated to the advancement of the theory and practical implementation of security on the Internet and Computer Networks." The conference was held near Heathrow Airport, London*.

The conference was overall very interesting with some interesting people & good talks relating to my area of research, as well as other security topics. Disappointingly there was a low attendance and the conference could have been much better if more people had attended.

There were keynote speeches by Fred Piper, Kevin Warwick, Colin Allison and Frank Wang. Fred talked about security issues and the impossibility of 100% security; Kevin talk about his experiences with cybernetics and security implications; Collin talked about 3D educational environments, including Second Life and OpenSim; and Frank Wang talked about the future of computing & memristor (I was falling asleep due to tiredness during this talk so not sure how good it was!).

I presented my paper A Brief Survey of Software Watermarking which was received well and created an interesting discussion. There were some other presenters talking about watermarking and obfuscation.

  • *. If you're travelling between terminals/hotels at Heathrow get a London bus - they're free within the Heathrow perimeter. Don't waste £4 on the Hoppa bus or £10 on a taxi!
